Sheer nostalgia dictates I have to give "Teen Wolf" an honorable mention - if you don't get a lump when listening to "Shoot for the Moon" you clearly were not born in the early 80s, ha ha. I think "Dumb & Dumber" is possibly my favourite collection of songs though - oh, and "The Crow", again something of a generational thing I think.
In terms of orchestral scores ... LotR has to be up there I guess, though my favourite signature themes have to be RoboCop, Gremlins and John Williams' original Superman anthem. The latter in particular never fails to send shivers up my spine.
This isnt the BEST movie soundtrack, though it is the first thing that came to my mind and it is good: In the mood for love, the choice of Nat King Cole is peferct. On another note 'I put a spell on you' by Screamin Jay Hawkings in Stranger than paradise is such a great song for that film.
I don't know if it's the best, but one of the first movies to really make good use of a rock soundtrack was An American Werewolf In London. How can you beat a soundtrack that includes CCR?
I agree with you!! The Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack is fantastic. The Queen of the Damned soundtrack is decent too, but only because a few of the songs.
